“ I heard so much hype about this place from my coffee snob friends ... and it did not disappoint whatsoever... The cold brew was recommended... and its the best cold brew I've had in years! Took home some beans as well and I'm excited to try. I just wish i lived closer to revisit every week!! ”
“ I visited Mameya Coffee Roasters on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Laguna Niguel. Mameya Coffee Roasters is a coffee brand from Kobe, Japan, and this is their first branch in the United States. More than a dozen different types of coffee beans are placed in front of the Coffee Roaster Machine, and they roast the beans to your desired roast level right on the spot. I tried the Iced Kobe, and the coffee tasted smooth and good, but it had a slightly burnt taste, probably because they use beans roasted right in the store. They have a variety of coffee beans, so next time l visit, l'll have to try a different bean. If you're a coffee lover, I recommend you to try specialty coffee here. ”
“ This is a coffee fanatics dream. Mameya is based in Kobe, Japan Their menu is small with about 3 different beans of the day for pour overs. They also offer cold brew and au lait styles and were very tasty. They have a variety of whole beans for sale and they roast them fresh for you! The staff are knowledgeable and very kind so you can ask away. The signs also have the notes so you can use that to pick which ones you'd like to take home. They also recommend the type of roast (light, medium, city, etc.) which is something you don't really get to do elsewhere. The store itself is cozy with a few couches. There's plenty of outside seating and parking so hopefully you can come at a non-busy time to check them out! ”
“ A unique and exceptionally great coffee shop for the true coffee lover! This coffee shop/roaster comes from Japan where there are a couple locations. You can purchase a coffee from their limited menu and/or purchase beans to take home. They have barrels of beans, probably around 18 choices, which are labeled as to where they come from and the tastes. You can choose your beans and also the level of roasting and they will roast them to order! It takes 15-20 minutes for the roast and you can have them grind them too if you don't want whole beans. One of the guys working can help advise you as to which beans you will probably like best as well as what level of roasting will suit you. I came late on a weekday morning and there seemed to be a constant flow of customers. They had a couple of coffees available (they change daily) as drip or pour-over as well as cafe au lait. I ordered a drip coffee - their Kobe blend - black. Usually I get foofy flavored lattes at coffee places but I wanted to really taste the COFFEE. And, wow, this coffee is incredible. I also had them roast some beans for me after chatting with the owner. I picked a coffee from Kenya and chose their "city roast" option (roast levels are best explained by the staff). I sat and enjoyed my coffee while my beans were roasted - they have several comfy chairs inside as well as a counter plus a large patio area. Truly a hidden gem for coffee aficionados. Unless you live in Laguna Niguel it is probably a bit of a drive to get here but well worth it. Make sure you say "Arigato Gozaimasu" ('Thank you very much' in Japanese) when you leave! ”
“ I like to come here once a month to get my whole beans. I order the cafe au lait and sip their cup while I wait for my beans to roast. Usually takes 5 to 10 minutes and I am on my way. Service is very friendly and the baristas are always welcoming. I get their medium roast Kobe blend for my espresso at home. ”
“ Great coffee shop from Japan, I believe this is their only southern california location. You can choose which blend you want to be roasted here as well, which is very cool! They have a huge variety. It's a very cozy coffee shop, which great and quick service. My drink was very tasty as well, even though it was very simple. I recommend for any coffee enjoyers, who appreciate the real taste of coffee beans. ”
“ I've passed on Mameya Coffee Roasters in the past because I prefer espresso over coffee. However, my coffee journey and love for coffee began with a simple cup of Joe from McDonald's. Mameya's is simple and only offers coffee and a few variations of it - milk or without milk in a variety of specialty beans. I ordered the Cafe Au Lait ($5) and a pour over of one of their specialty beans - Nicaragua Honey Process ($6). Wow... talk about coffee notes! I could taste all sorts of notes in the Nicaragua (in a good way) and my simpler Cafe Au Lait was the same, just less complex. I love the aesthetics of this place - clean and definitely reminds me of a coffee shop in Japan. This place is completely Japanese owned which is a plus because I love Japanese style coffee. Workers here were so friendly and classy - it's definitely a place that brings me joy. Their menu may be small and simple, but what they mostly sell here are freshly roasted beans. There is such a huge variety to choose from and I will for sure be returning to buy some! ”
“ After going to Japan where the coffee scene is amazing, we've been limited on coffee roasters my husband likes to get beans from. So when I saw this place, I knew we needed to make the drive out to try! If planning to get beans, I'd recommend coming out when they first open, calling in an order or coming at an off time. But if you do need to wait, get a drink and chill there or even take a stroll down the street! Could be a long wait if you plan to buy beans so I'd recommend coming near opening, off hours or calling in order if you know what you want already! Random plus: I also appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms haha and as someone who works with elderly, it was a nice touch to have grab bars at the toilets ”
“ Was looking for a coffee near the park on a Sunday and stumbled on this place! Very limited menu (cafe au lait with vanilla, hazelnut, or cane syrups) or an expansive list of pour over coffees. Definitely a place for someone who loves coffee as opposed to a standard sugary latte shop, but it was very good! I enjoyed it and service was quick and friendly. Inside is clean with some couches, and there is a large shared patio area with the other businesses. ”
“ I've never had a Japanese style infused coffee and this cute little gem has done a great job. I ordered the cafe au lait iced with whole milk and vanilla syrup. The flavor is nutty and not watered down. It definitely is strong and one can appreciate it for the long work day ahead. The service was superb, when my order was taken he really took the time to explain the ingredients and favorites from other patrons. Inside the aesthetics is so gorgeous. Love the colors and different accents in the wood framings. Def looking forward to bringing back my husband as they have drip coffee options too. ”
